Drama Dilemma

I have a problem. A trivial, insignificant, and quite trite problem, but one none the less. Earlier this year I picked up a drama. A cable weekly called Yellow Boots. If you don't know what it is, good. Stop reading this post and don't go looking it up. If you do know what it is, you're probably cringing from the thought or yelling in righteous fury. Either way, I watched this makjang-revenge fest with a love-hate relationship, mostly hate. I frequently dropped it and then picked it up again. As to why I didn't just bury it in the grave and never give it a second glance, I don't know. Well, I do know: Jung Chan.
ARGH!

I like Jung Chan. I can't exactly pinpoint what it is about him, but I find him and his characters attractive. Yellow Boots was exactly that: an excuse to watch Jung Chan. I hated all the other characters (or found them boring), thought the plot had gone to the dogs, and overall, everything was blown out of massive proportion and characters were infuriating me to no end.
Just look at the poster! It screams MAKJANG!
After a vacation, I had become a week behind in episodes and my hate for the drama won over my desire to watch Jung Chan, and I thought I had officially dropped it for good. Then randomly, last week, I looked up Jung Chan and read what happened to him at the end of the show.

*SPOILER ALERT: for those crazy enough to watch the whole thing*
Jung Chan gets seriously hurt and... I won't say the rest for those who couldn't resist reading the spoiler but in actuality don't want to be spoiled.
*SPOILER END*

So here's my dilemma: I WANT TO PICK IT UP AT THE END AGAIN!

Someone come smack me to my senses. The show is so convoluted and ridiculous, but the crazy writer did something CRAZY to my favorite character of the show, and I want to know how and why he got there.

Therefore, is there anyone out there who watched this drama and want to tell me if it's worth picking it up again? Will watching it just make me enraged and want to pull my heart out? Will watching it make me swoon over Jung Chan's character and be worth the head-banging and hair-pulling?

I guess I'll wrestle with the idea for a while and when a break appears, maybe, just maybe, I'll pick it up again. In the meantime, I'll just continue enjoying Answer Me 1997 and eagerly await the October dramas to air.
If only all shows could be like this one.

  1. Bwahahaha! You watched Yellow Boots.

Buuut then I've watched crazy trainwreck stuff for the sake of a crush, too. You're not alone, our fangirlism is a double-edged sword.

    1. I know, I can't believe I came out of the closet with this one.

The things I do because of fangirlism. It is a huge double-edged sword!

  2. I am afraid I like him too, and like you I watched the drama on and off. Unfortunatly for him he has to pay for his mother's sin in the drama verse. He did nothing but pine for the main girl, and when she finally started to have feelings for him, the father of her child wanted to reunite with her, and we all know what that means in Kdrama laws.

So Here is the ending if you want:

Since Jung Chan's Character's mother tried to kill the other guy's mother by trapping her inside a burning car. Jung Chan had to rescue the child of his beloved (and the other guy) from a burning shack, thus incuring fetal injuries.

    1. I assumed as much, and foresaw his unfortunate ending a while ago. Thanks for confirming. I'll assume that it really isn't worth my time. Maybe, just maybe, he'll be in something decent with a good amount of screen time in his next project. Sigh... if only I could get my hours back, like a refund. Oh well, I've wasted my time on worst things before. At least it was fun to watch him.

    1. Hi, I didn't watch the drama in its entirety but did watch a bit of the end after dropping it.

(Spoilers) Yoo-ra kidnaps Yoo-ri's son and is caught. Thus, she gets thrown in jail. Plus, she may have been proven guilty for her previous crimes, but I don't know that for certain. That's simply speculations on my part and the most obvious line of course for the plot. Furthermore, Choi Kang-wook dies *sob* while trying to save Yoo-ri's son (which is karma from his mother's evil deeds). Then I'm pretty sure Yoo-ri ends up with her ex-boyfriend and father of her son Ha Yoon-jae, or at least, something is implied along those lines. (Spoiler End)

Please note, my spoiler isn't 100% accurate since I didn't watch everything. However, I can completely relate with your feelings. The show drove me crazy, too. It was makjang galore.
