The Queen's Classroom: Farewell

NOTE: Does not contain explicit spoilers but the following content pertains to the last episode

As I finished the last episode of The Queen's Classroom, I couldn't help but tear up again. This show took me by surprise with its depth and humanity. It's a sophisticated look at society and the problems surrounding the educational system and youth culture. Though the issues brought up in the drama will not be easily fixed nor will there always be an optimistic ending for everybody, it gives hope that the future isn't always bleak.

However, this post is not dedicated to talking about the themes and problems the show touched upon, that's for another time. Rather, I want to say my good-byes to the living, breathing characters who allowed me into their lives and a small glimpse of their world. I will cherish the love, the laughter, the hardships, and the tears I've shared with them and as my favorite character loves to say, "I won't hold back those who leave."

The drama was able to create a world I believed in and can still imagine continuing even if it's over. Applause to the writer, director, and everyone involved who were able to orchestrate this lovely piece.

As per the title, this isn't a review, though it does deserve one (maybe sometime soon), but my farewell to a wonderful drama. Though the show is over, their lives will forever continue forward. Each striving for his or her own dreams and answers, whatever they may be. So...

Farewell, Class 6-3.

Farewell talented Bo-mi. You've grown so much, and though you went through so many troubles and will probably face even more as you get older, you've shown that you're no longer the weak and meek little girl but a strong young lady who won't be easily deterred. Continue believing in yourself and don't give up.

Farewell beautiful, smart, and courageous Seo-hyun. I'm glad you've found friends who you can rely on and cherish memories with together. Always remember to live the life you want and continue to strive for your dreams because not only are you capable but have friends who'll support you until the end.

Farewell trouble-maker Dong-goo. You were my favorite, beginning to end. Hold onto your pure heart and love for life. Smile as you've always have and remember that you're the best as who you are now.

Farewell Ha-na. Your stubbornness, your kindness, and your faith in humanity was the glue for this show bringing everyone together. Your happiness and love are infectious and light up the room. Though you'll probably be hurt in the future by those around you, never lose your faith and push forward like you've always done. Fighting, Shim Ha-na!

Lastly, farewell Teacher Ma. It's not easy to play the bad guy, often misunderstood and unappreciated. However, I know you'll continue doing your duties guiding the next generation to become respectable adults who'll learn to love themselves and, in turn, those around them. Thank you.

Farewell The Queen's Classroom. Until next time...
