Lovepark

Last year, Park Yong-woo did a stage play which is great to hear. However, I'd love to see him in more projects since he's been quiet for a while now. Hopefully it's by choice and not because he's not getting offers... Anyways, happy birthday Park Yong-woo!

It always amazes me that Park Yong-woo was born in 1971. He's a year younger than Park Hee-soon, and only four months younger than Jung Jae-young (both were born in 1970). Plus, he's older than Park Sung-woong by two years. I think he's aged amazingly well, but I'm biased (supremely biased). Anyways, photos after the jump!

Welcome to the third Lovepark End of the Year Award: where the awards don't matter, and nobody cares! Judges: Me (as always) I write up mock awards at the end of the year, but this year's broadcaster awards were ridiculous. Unsurprising, but still ridiculous. I don't think I can match their level, but that's probably a good thing.

Two years ago (2013), three out of my four favorite actors had a drama air in 2013. I was blown away by the coincidence since most of my top four act in movies more than dramas. Unfortunately, I never wrote a post about it and thought I missed an opportunity that would never occur again. Amazingly, this year, three out of my four favorite actors were in dramas! Even more surprisingly, one of those three was Jung Jae-young. Of course, I watched all three dramas (caveat, Park Sung-woong is acting in another drama airing in early December, so I'll update the post later with a first impression). SECOND UPDATE: I cannot believe I forgot about one drama! 2015 was an even more special year because it was not three but all four of my favorites that had dramas air this year.   I really hope Park Yong-woo has a new project on the way. His most recent movie Late Spring was awesome, and his two-episode drama was good (could have been better but satisfying). I know I'm bad about remembering birthdays but this is just ridiculous! I cannot believe I completely forgot to have a birthday post dedicated to Park Yong-woo. It's almost been two whole months since his birthday (March 16), but better late than never. Happy Birthday Park Yong-woo He finished the drama My Love, Madame Butterfly  last year spring. Later, he came on SNL Korea where he said he was going on a trip to rejuvenate. Also, he filmed a movie, Late Spring , which won the Best Foreign Feature at the 2014 Arizona International Film Festival. Hopefully, Park Yong-woo has more future projects in mind because he's an amazing actor, and I love watching him. There hasn't really been much news or casting about Park Yong-woo this year or last which is sad to hear as a fan, but I hope he's taking a good, long rest. Happy Birthday! Well, I feel like what's to come next should be pretty obvious... pictures!

Monday-Tuesday: Oohlala Couple The drama sets up its characters in the beginning episodes, and gets to the main conflict right off the bat. Shin Hyun-joon's Go Soo-nam is a double-faced, chauvinistic pig who deserves a good smack-down, and Kim Jung-eun's Na Yeo-ok is the passive-aggressive housewife who should go see a psychiatrist. Neither character is perfect, though all sympathies go to the wife, and both are equally boring and unappealing. However, it's Byun Hee-bong's fate rendering old man that remains the glue for the show. He is the old man version of cupid that everyone can see and who "tsk tsk" at the foolishness of humans, but with all his bizarre and unrealistic traits, he is oddly relatable and the most enjoyable character of the bunch. Though he hardly had any screen time, Byun Hee-bong's character is like a personified version of the audience that brings in this sense of whimsy and dramatic irony. The first teaser of the upcoming weekend drama was recently released. The show premieres in two weeks on October 6th after Delicious Life which was cut short. Teaser: Park Yong-woo was on for three seconds. That's it!?! Sigh, the show doesn't seem super interesting to me, unfortunately, because I really want to like it. Despite all my misgivings, I'm still going to watch at least two episodes, and probably still watch a majority of it even if I hate it. It's not like Park Yong-woo is on t.v. everyday. My Love, Madame Butterfly recently held its script reading. It hasn't been too long since Park Yong-woo has confirmed his role . The drama plans to air in October after Delicious Life ends. I am so ridiculously excited for this show mainly because I get to see Park Yong-woo again! He's so adorably awesome, and I hope for the best for his drama. Via  Osen

The upcoming weekend drama My Love, Madame Butterfly has cast its male lead: Park Yong-woo! Woot, woot! *happy dance* His last drama Jejoongwon  was 2 years ago! Oh how time flies. I still remember certain scenes and emotions as if it were yesterday. It expects to air in October on SBS after Delicious Life  ends.  Yeom Jung-ah plays the lead lady Na-bi (which means butterfly in Korean), a former super star who has fallen from her glory days. The fans that once loved her beauty and killer fashion sense, slowly begin to realize her iffy acting skills, rude attitude, and the like causing her to become the nation's loser. Park plays Lee Woo-jae who is the manager of World Department Store and a second generation chaebol. Okay, I don't know why he exactly has to be a chaebol but if this means Park Yong-woo in suits on screen, by all means, I'm completely fine with overusing that trope here, too. Did you watch Jejoongwon ? He is so wonderful and pleasing to the eye...

H A P P Y B I R T H D A Y I'll be a bit objective here and say Park Yong-woo is not really handsome (objectively) compared to some of the more baby-faced or chiseled or just downright good-looking men in the world and the Korean entertainment industry. However, I think he is a fabulous actor with expressive eyes, and without a hint of sarcasm or snark, I think he's adorable. How can he be so cute when he's.... +40! Mind = blown. Why I love Park Yong-woo...

Well, does anyone remember this ? Sorry for reporting this so late (apparently this news is from November), but Park Yong-woo has decided to drop out of the project. His movie Papa is hitting theaters in January so it appears scheduling conflicts may be one reason but nothing was really said about why. Unfortunately, this means that we won't be able to see Park Yong-woo and his adorable smile on the small screen early next year. There was a report stating that Lee Sung-jae ( Poseidon ) was taking the role which would be nice because I like him, too, even though his choice of dramas is highly questionable. However, I don't think any castings besides Kim Hee-ae's is solid. A Wife's Credentials plans to air in February on jTBC. Via Star News & TV Report

 Park Yong-woo is looking adorable in this photoshoot alongside movie partner Go Ah-ra. He portrays his playful and fun side in the photos to  mirror his upcoming character's personality while Go went for more chic and cold.

Park Yong-woo has been cast along sides Kim Hee-ae in cable broadcaster jTBC's drama A Wife's Credentials . The story is about the skewed emphasis on private tutoring in Kangnam and a mother's struggle to educate her child. She, also, falls in love with her neighbor played by Park. He is described as the innocent next-door neighbor dentist. The drama is helmed by the PD Ahn Pan-suk of the much adulated  White Tower . This will be his first drama since then which was four years ago. The writer is Jung Sung-joo whose latest drama was Lawyers back in 2005. With cable now offering potentially thrilling new drama prospects, the big three may feel a dent in the their power over the next couple of years. Whether it is a good or bad thing, I'm having more interests in new cable dramas than what is being offered by KBS, MBC, or SBS, so in the best case scenario, new competition causes a rise in the quality of the shows and better treatm...
